While continuing his mission to spur economic inclusion for Black-owned media in ad spending, Allen keeps expanding his company’s reach. The owner of a substantial portfolio that includes The Weather Channel and The Weather Channel en Español, AMG shows no signs of slowing down with recent moves including Allen Media Digital’s launch of Sports.TV, a free ad-supported direct-to-consumer streaming service; strategic partnerships with Google to accelerate growth across its portfolio and with the Southwestern Athletic Conference to secure distribution rights to sports content for HBCU GO; and its $11 million purchase and rebrand of Black News Channel into TheGrio. At press time, Allen had put his hat in the ring to purchase BET from Paramount Global.
